Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: nw Wind Stength: 15/20 Surf / Sea State: river chop Air Temperature: 17 Sea Temperature: 11 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 24.35 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 16 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Haven't been windsurfing since the 3rd May so was keen to get out before we
go to France on Monday :) With the wind NW there are not many options and
as I had arranged to pick up a repaired sail at Levington so decided to
take the gear there and see. I arrived at about 10:30 and wind was gusting
20 mph+ and the tide was high having just turned so I went for my 8.5 on
the longboard. After a wobbly start in light gusty winds I found more wind
in Levington Bay and had some nice reaches down to the docks where I went
ashore at Shotley to take some pics of the huge container ships. I spent
the rest of the session reaching down the river and beating back with loads
of yachts enjoying the breeze. The wind eased so I headed back to the
marina for a bit to eat and lession to the last half hour of the Ipswich v
Norwich second leg playoff match which poor old Ipswich were unlucky to
lose after having a man sent off early in the second half, so it's
Championship football again next year :( I then took my kit home, picked
Mag up and headed back to Levington to pick up my sail :) We then parked by
the marina entrance just in time to see the Harwich life boat tow in a
broken down yacht ! and have a cuppa :)
